Getting started

The unit solves most HDCP and HDMI problems simply by being connected between the source and the display. Everything after that is choosing the right EDID.

Setting it up in six steps

  1. Put it in the chain

    HDMI in from the source, HDMI out towards the display, AVR, matrix or extender. On a long run, place it at the source end so the cable equalisation and +5V injector work in your favour.

  2. Give it power

    Connect the supplied USB adaptor to the mini USB port. The unit will also pass that power on to an active cable downstream when you need it to.

  3. Pick a table, then a bank

    Hold the rotary switch down in any position to cycle the tables: FHD, UHD 2CH, UHD 5.1, UHD FS and Custom. The LED colour confirms where you are. Then press up or down for the eight banks in that table.

  4. Let the hot-plug event finish

    Stop for about a second and the unit activates the selected EDID and starts the HPD event. That takes around two seconds, as the standard requires. The EDID is locked while it runs; after that you can change it again.

  5. Or copy the display you already have

    Press the copy sink button and the display's EDID is read and stored in custom bank 8 on the white table, with a hot-plug event straight after.

  6. Edit banks from a PC when you want to

    The Windows utility writes custom banks 1 to 7, loads and saves EDID files and updates the firmware. A convenience, not a requirement.

How the banks are organised

  • Blue, FHD: banks 1–8 are factory presets, changed only by firmware.
  • Green, yellow and red, UHD: the same video modes with full audio, SPDIF-limited audio or stereo.
  • White, custom: banks 1–7 are yours to program from the PC software.
  • White, bank 8: reserved for the EDID copied from the connected display.
  • HDCP is untouched — only EDID requests are filtered, every handshake passes through.
